We are looking for an experienced COBOL developer/engineer (m/f/d) to support our customers especially banks, financial service providers, and insurance companies in the further development, modernization, and integration of their core banking systems.
​
You will work on projects involving mainframe systems, batch processes, interfaces, modernization initiatives (e.g., API connection, migrations), as well as the analysis and optimization of existing core banking applications.
Experience in the German financial sector or in core banking processes is a clear advantage.
Your main tasks

Further development, maintenance, and optimization of COBOL-based applications and batch processes on mainframe systems

Analysis of existing core banking systems and development of technical solutions for new requirements

Collaboration on modernization projects, e.g., migration of COBOL components, refactoring, API integration, connection of new platforms

Implementation, testing, error analysis, and documentation of software solutions

Support in requirements analysis, technical design, and architecture issues

Optional: Collaboration on projects in OSPlus environments (credit systems, OSPlus services, FK-Online, etc.)

Close collaboration with subject matter experts, IT architects, and development teams

Work using agile or classic project methods, depending on the customer environment

Several years of professional experience as a COBOL developer or software engineer in a mainframe environment

Very good knowledge of: COBOL, JCL, DB2/SQL, mainframe/zOS

Experience in the financial services environment, ideally in core banking or credit processes

Knowledge in one or more of the following areas is a plus:
1) OSPlus services / OSPlus credit systems
2) Development of services in COBOL or Java
3) Experience in test automation and CI/CD for mainframe systems
4) Migration of legacy systems

Analytical, structured, and solution-oriented approach to work

Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with specialist departments and IT teams

Very good German skills (C1/C2) and good English skills

Experience with core banking systems (e.g., OSPlus, Avaloq, Avaloq Batching, T24, core systems of savings banks or cooperative banks)

Understanding of modern technologies in the context of legacy modernization (APIs, microservices, Java migrations)

Experience in enterprise architecture or process modeling
